This is a beautiful pour! The first thing you notice is definitely the wine note on the nose; it's clear and distinct, but not overwhelming. The red wine note is noticeable but well-integrated into the whole. It's elegant and smooth, balanced by a pleasant caramel toffee sweetness. As it sits in the glass, this wine influence fades, and the character of the grains and wood become prominent. At this point, it shows some resemblance to Wiser's Legacy (which is always a welcome characteristic!). I expected it to be mostly corn, but I'd guess there's some rye in the blend. It's a wonderful experience... another success for Dr. Don!

Two bottles, a 15-year Cab Sav and a 21-year Pike Creek Oloroso, were compared side-by-side. The younger bottle presented a sweeter scent, while the older one was nuttier and drier. The superior choice depends on individual preference, as both are good. I slightly favor the 15-year. The 15-year's palate was creamier, well-rounded, and fruity. Quite pleasant. The 21-year was a bit better, dry, spicy, and delicious. Ultimately, the 21-year won due to its longer finish and superior overall experience. Both are recommended purchases.

Complex scents of dark fruit, berry, vanilla, and baking spice lead to tastes of cherry, smoke, toffee, and raisin. The finish is smooth with notes of red currant and spice. It doesn't have as much of a lingering finish as I desired, but it's exceptional when mixed with a splash of port or a robust red wine.

Ashley Branson 4.0

Caramel, fruit, spice, honey, vanilla, oak, and a bit of heat. Incredibly smooth, which gets better when mixed with the leftover cab sauv from niagara still in the glass.

Gayle Padgett 4.3

Surprisingly smooth. Extremely subtle cabernet sauvignon, but it's present.
