About this bottle

Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon was initially introduced in 1992 as part of the Jim Beam Small Batch Collection and featured a 9-year age statement. However, the age statement was removed in 2016, though the brand aimed to maintain the original flavor profile. As of April 2020, the 9-year age statement has been reinstated. The bourbon continues to be bottled at 100 proof.

There are nice flavors throughout and within this fine aged whiskey. There are wood notes, nuttiness, caramel, and spice, all of which leave your palate rather quickly. Neal Truong 3.3

NEAT SMELL - Wood, Vanilla, hints of nuts, artificial maple and a touch of spice. TASING - Predominantly wood, with vanilla appearing toward the end. AFTERTASTE - Lasts a while. For me, the taste progresses as Wood > Vanilla > Wood. PURCHASE? - Absolutely. You can't beat the cost. REPURCHASE? - Possibly. I need to taste this alongside other bourbons in a blind tasting to figure out my top pick in this price bracket. It's a solid drink, especially considering the cost. It would function well as an everyday pour. **REVISION** - The more I drink this and Russel’s 10 YR, the more I favor the sweeter and more mellow character of Russel’s 10 YR.

Patience Stowe 4.0

A well-rounded Straight Bourbon Whiskey from Jim Beam Distillery in Kentucky, aged for 9 years in American oak and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). It begins richly and spicily with notes of fruit, baking spices, caramel corn, toasted nuts, wood, and burnt brown sugar. Its full and spicy middle adds notes of fresh oak, orange zest, raisin, sweet maple syrup, caramel candy, wood resin, cinnamon, clove, and licorice, leading to a long, oily finish with hints of char, cocoa, vanilla, and brown butter. Kyler Waters 4.3

The nose has notes of leather, and one might detect a bit of vanilla and banana. On the palate, it's delightful. We have notes of vanilla, banana, and a finish that's quite spicy and woody. It's not very sweet, quite raw, and I love it! Not to mention the excellent value for money. This is the first Bourbon I've had on American soil, and it sets a high bar! Promising!

Vonda Guajardo 3.5

It's decent, quite good in fact, but I have a growing list of preferred options. The aroma is sweet caramel, and the taste presents nice strong, bold flavors of caramel and spice. The finish has notes of sweet red apples. However, the spice and spicy aftertaste are slightly off-putting. It's still a nice drink, but I favor others more.

Marla Pickens 4.3

Tried neat at the airport in Houston. It's surprisingly delicious. Noted. On the nose, it's sweet with hints of vanilla, caramel, honey, and cocoa. On the palate, it's smooth with a spicy finish featuring notes of wood, toast, pepper, toasted nuts, and crème brûlée.
