The aroma is rather dull, with some vegetation, a hint of bitterness, and faint cardboard notes. Perhaps a fleeting scent of lime. The palate is fairly sweet, with good lime notes preventing the agave sweetness from being overwhelming. There's some spice that complements the earthiness, and a touch of smoke. It's quite rich and full, but not exceptionally complex. It's definitely a sipper, but overpriced considering its fairly mild and flat character. It pales in comparison to the vibrancy of Cabeza and Fortaleza Blanco. It's a sipper, but not a particularly pleasant one. Compared to those, this is sweet and mineral with little to offer. The mouthfeel is still reasonably viscous and smooth, similar to a disappointing aged spirit. It's less sweet and unbalanced than Jimador Blanco. It also has a less interesting spice profile, but I appreciate the reduced sugary sweetness. It's not as strong, either. I'd prefer this over Jimador Blanco, despite the price difference. It's slightly richer than 3 Amigos Blanco, but perhaps less complex. It's surprisingly difficult to choose between them. Both are decent sippers. Honestly, I think I prefer the 3 Amigos slightly, so it might get a boost to a 13, but this one is likely staying at 12. Herbal, spicy, vegetal, and mineral aromas. The palate is spicy and minty with a light agave sweetness that incorporates vegetal flavors and minerals. It has decent complexity and flavor, though it's not outstanding. There's a fair amount of spicy harshness. It's sippable enough, but unremarkable. Green pineapple adds some fruitiness. The finish is somewhat chalky. Unfortunately, there are some flaws, and it's just not very interesting, though it's far from bad.

About this bottle
Patrón Silver Tequila, introduced in 1989 alongside their Añejo, is now a well-known tequila. Patrón, co-founded by John Paul DeJoria (of John Paul Mitchell fame), pioneered the concept of "ultra-premium" tequila. The brand's standard expression utilizes a combination of tahona-crushed and roller-mill-crushed agave. The agaves are sourced from Los Altos, Jalisco, slow-roasted in an oven, and then fermented in wooden vats. The late Francisco Alcaraz, the original Master Distiller & Blender, created the brand's recipe. Initially, it was produced at the Siete Leguas distillery before Patrón established its own facility in 2002.

Nose: Freshly cooked agave, vegetal and floral notes, lime zest, mint, subtle pepper, with a moderate to high alcohol burn. Taste: Cooked agave, white pepper, grapefruit, sweet lime, citrus zest, spearmint, floral notes, grassiness, salt, with a moderate alcohol bite. The finish is medium length, featuring citrus, mint, and cooked agave flavors. This is a quality tequila, though a bit unexciting. I appreciate that cooked agave is the initial aroma and flavor I detect. What truly stands out is its crispness. The flavors are all high-pitched, unlike the earthy, stale low notes I experience with many other tequilas. The entire experience has an almost effervescent quality, similar to drinking a lime-flavored sparkling water. However, there's no value here. At around $50 in my area, it costs more than El Tesoro and is approaching Fortaleza prices, both of which are considerably superior products in my opinion. I can see this serving as an excellent introduction to well-made tequila for newcomers, as it offers good cooked agave flavors without any challenging characteristics to navigate.
This is a premium tequila that, for reasons unknown, has been underestimated by individuals who lack the ability to recognize fine spirits. Patron is meticulously crafted from 100% Weber Blue Agave and is produced in limited quantities to prioritize excellence over volume. This clear tequila creates exceptional margaritas, but is also enjoyable on its own. Its scent is fruity and botanical. The taste is zesty, botanical, and earthy, as well as rich and fluid. It has a sharp note, yet it is balanced by an unexpected sweetness. A subtle oily sensation and sleek consistency are indicative of its superior origin. It is smooth and sweet with a faint peppery finish. Serve chilled in a margarita or at room temperature neat. You will appreciate all the skillfully executed, high-quality flavors and characteristics of this world-class clear tequila!
Tasted neat in a tasting glass. Nose: Powdered sugar with black pepper. I detect a very faint hint of lime peel. Taste: Sweet agave nectar. A little sweeter than I anticipated after smelling it. I wish the peppery notes were more prominent. It's a bit thin, but overall a pleasant flavor. There's a hint of green melon on the finish. Finish: Not much happening here. The finish has a note of overripe green melon or cantaloupe. Overall: This is a decent value, but I don't think it offers much complexity. It seems a bit artificial and one-dimensional to me. I would have preferred if some of the spicier notes from the nose carried through to the end. It's far from bad, but it just doesn't really capture my interest.
This is fantastic for tequila cocktails. The best silver tequila for Palomas and margaritas! It provides the perfect flavor in a classic margarita. Very smooth (perhaps a bit too smooth) and also great on its own. The finest agaves and production methods are utilized, resulting in great quality! Patron brought me back to drinking tequila after the terrible experiences with Cuervo when I was younger. They are dedicated to producing high-quality tequila. It might not be the best tasting, but that's a matter of personal preference. Patron possesses the expertise, capacity, capability, and the drive to compete with brands like Fortaleza, and I suspect they will soon by enhancing their base tequilas. It's definitely underrated!
From a small sample bottle, tasted in a Glencairn. The aroma offers pleasant herbal agave. The palate is nice, though as often happens for me, the aroma is more intricate than the taste. The taste is almost an afterthought, but a welcome one. This was tasted alongside Patron Silver. It wasn't a blind tasting, so not scientific, but here's my take. After several small sips, I prefer Don Julio slightly over Patron. Checked pricing at the local government store; costs fluctuate, but both are currently priced the same for a 750 ml bottle.
