Parker's Heritage 10 Year Cask Strength Rye Whiskey

Finishing up the last bit from a bottle bought to share with some buddies. Poured from an Aged & Ore bottle. I confess, before I even started assessing this, I knew I was fond of this spirit, and I'm bummed it's all gone. The appearance is typical – a medium amber hue. It shows modest legs after a vigorous swirl, but nothing particularly noteworthy. The aroma is sweet and welcoming, with gentle rye notes, abundant vanilla, and a surprising richness of dark fruits. It genuinely improves as it rests in the glass. The scent is full and hints at a higher alcohol content, yet it never feels heavy or overwhelming. The taste is pleasing and dominated by oak. There's more wood influence than spice. If I tasted this without knowing its age, I'd guess it was significantly older than 10 years. I detect oak, cherry, nutmeg, and other warm spices, but this isn't a rye that emphasizes its rye character. It's remarkably smooth to drink, though admittedly not the most intricate pour I've experienced. The mouthfeel has moderate thickness, and the conclusion is quite potent, perhaps a touch spicier here than anywhere else. This is an excellent spirit, and I'm sorry to finish it. However, my recollections might be a bit grander than what this final tasting revealed. That's not a criticism, but I was seriously checking out resale values before I had this tonight, and after savoring my final taste, I'll just have to accept that this was indeed my last serving of this whiskey.

A gift from someone I know, so I'm unaware of its strength or price. Served in a Glencairn, allowed to sit for fifteen minutes. Deep amber hue. On the nose, I found dark berries alongside a hint of mint and graham cracker. The mouthfeel was one of spicy clove and cinnamon spreading across the palate. It leaves a lingering warmth and is quite substantial in duration. Adding a small amount of water subdued the heat, revealing notes of mint and woody astringency. Concluding thoughts: 9.5/10 - An excellent whiskey that works well on the rocks or mixed, but is equally enjoyable straight from a Glencairn.

A sweet aroma. Overwhelmingly vanilla with a touch of caramel and a zesty spice on the tongue. If you have the patience to experience the duration of the finish, it lasts a considerable time, with all the mentioned flavors becoming apparent on the palate. However, it's hard to resist taking another sip; it's that good. I did not detect the tea clove or spearmint notes mentioned in the professional review.

Nose: peanut brittle, caramel Body: moderate Palate: minty, rye Finish: moderate Note: The initial taste was perplexing; winter mint (?), enjoyable but not exceptional.

This whiskey is an incredible "cinnamon apple pie" aroma explosion. A superb, full-bodied spirit that drinks lighter than its alcohol content.

Has a great spice kick but with a sweet finish. Awesome flavor!
