Nose: round and floral, peppery, a note of cured meat pepper, a unique scent of maquis then a light woodiness and a nutty note, all still surrounded by spring plant aromas. Palate: dry, round, slightly bitter and peppery, characterful but not aggressive, still notes of maquis and forest, woody, a slight smoke and a hint of salt coat everything and give a marine touch to this mountain-character whisky. The finish is medium, woody and peppery. Personal note: 96/100 An incredible whisky that surely only those who grew up on the island can fully appreciate. With this whisky, one is in the village, in the mountains, in the forest, by the fireplace with some local charcuterie, one walks along the seaside rocks. These are all the flavors of Corsica gathered in this bottle, so representative of the island. A perfect balance for my taste as it combines many scents from my youth, all without lacking complexity, remarkable for a NAS that follows a 7-year-old (the 7-year-old also received an excellent rating of 95/100 from Jim Murray in the famous whisky bible in 2014, placing it 5th globally and 3rd in Europe). I am now eager to taste the other bottles from this producer.
