Nose - Gentle sweet smoke, hints of sweet pine sap?, charcoal/ashy, mild raw grain husks Taste - Mild sweet smoke, a trace of cannabis, pine tree syrup sweetness, gentle ash, a wisp of lemon, black pepper on the finish Finish - Lingering black pepper, ash, mild generic metallic syrupy sweetness, notes of cannabis-infused simple syrup return Score - 72/100 Final Thoughts - This was a very unusual one; the gentle sweet smoke was quite prominent when the glass was a few feet from my nose, but up close, it wasn't as strong. It had an unassuming aroma, smelling somewhat like a Caol Ila, but then it hit the palate and was unlike anything I had experienced before. It had a very generic grain/pine tree sap quality. The palate was interesting, but I'm not sure I was the biggest fan. The flavors seemed quite contradictory, and while I can see some people enjoying this, it felt really unbalanced and a bit thin. Would I drink it if offered? - Perhaps Would I specifically order it? - No Would I buy a bottle? - No NOTE - All reviews are done without factoring in price.

March 16, 2025 - Nancy Snooz - 5 PM Clear color, too clear... I am wary of skirts that reveal their intimacy too abruptly. A smoky and woody nose! Violently smoky, even! Could I have found something to cap off this magnificent evening in style?? First sip is clear and refreshing, like spring water, a second sip is slightly peppery and alcoholic. AND THEN! FINALLY! A magnificent third sip that is smoky and intensely woody; it's delicious!!! This is certainly something to finish this magnificent evening in style! My partner in mischief and I, after defeating the Luxembourgers at poker, ventured out into the night to discover what it had to offer! With our winnings in hand, a bottle of cognac in our bag, all that was missing was the discovery of a fine smoky whisky to enhance the evening! However, my incorrigible companion still needs to learn how to properly hold his liquor... The night is far from over...

An affordable smoke that avoids tasting like burnt cigarette butts is always appreciated. It's no Laphroaig Cask Strength or Bowmore Devil's, but a French peated spirit warrants recognition. It has smoke and is easy to drink, and at a good cost, there are less enjoyable spirits.
Subtle peat, very sweet with apricot notes. Excellent French friend.
