About this bottle

Oyo Wheat Whiskey, named after the original designation for the Ohio River Valley, is a single cask, small-batch artisanal spirit. Produced at Middle West Distillers in Columbus, Ohio, it is crafted from 100% Ohio red winter wheat and single-source Ohio grains. The whiskey is barreled at a high proof in white American oak and aged for at least two years, with each hand-numbered batch bottled at 92 proof.

Lynette Anthony 3.0

The aroma is subtle, with floral and fruity notes appearing if you pay close attention. The palate presents woody and earthy grain flavors if given a chance; otherwise, it's a strong, unadorned whiskey. It has a fresh wood scent and an acrid burn. It's suitable for relaxing on the patio while whittling and listening to nearby ducks. It has a slightly oily and spicy character. I used it while carving a wooden ewe. I spent time with these products a couple of years ago and quite like them. Age would greatly benefit their whiskey.

I had a bottle during a fishing trip to Lake Erie. The burn started intensely and persisted. My two companions disliked it as well. I attempted adding water, trying it on the rocks, and mixing it with lemonade, but nothing seemed to improve it. I don't anticipate finishing the remaining bottle; it's just taking up space. Very disappointing.

This spirit greets you with a sweet scent like red licorice. The taste is full of ripe red fruits, especially cherries, and it finishes with a zesty kick. It's a decent spirit that would be excellent in mixed drinks, where its sharper spicy character would really shine.

Lilia Mccracken 3.0

The scent is packed with spice, almost overwhelming as you lift the glass. The spirit itself delivers a very sudden flavor. Spices are immediately apparent, with sweeter undertones emerging as you process the taste. For my palate, the spice is intense, sometimes even excessive. It's good, but not what I'm looking for.

The aroma was light, but the glass wasn't shaped like a tulip. It tasted spicy, and letting it sit for a moment brought out floral notes with a fairly light finish. Adding a couple of drops of water revealed some nutty characteristics.

Nola Truong 2.0

There's a noticeable warmth on the palate that persists. This is included in the '101 whiskeys to try before you die' list. It's quite distinct and unique. I'm glad I tried it, though I don't particularly care for it.
