Oak, cinnamon, and stone fruits; nectarines specifically. A pervasive sweetness is present, but I'm undecided between honey and caramel. TASTE - A dense mouthfeel, though it lacks the anticipated viscosity. The taste presents well-aged, dusty oak, cinnamon, and rye spice. Any sweetness from the aroma is absent on the palate, with the herbaceousness and spicy character of rye dominating. I'm curious to observe its evolution. I wonder if the rye's intensity will diminish, allowing some sweetness to emerge. FINISH - Oak and rye spice. Slightly drying. Medium duration. PURCHASE? - Yes, if you appreciate rye and are okay with a lack of sweetness on the palate. REPURCHASE? - I wouldn't buy another at $150. Honestly, it's a fair price for the age from a NDP. I will keep an eye on ONYX and AMBER.
