About this bottle

Guyana is the origin of Old Sam Demerara rum, produced by Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), a significant provider of bulk rum for various private label brands, including Old Sam. It is imported and bottled in Newfoundland, readily available across Canada, but not exported to the United States. While it lacks an age statement, its low cost and deep color suggest it is likely a mixture of young rums with added coloring. The brand emphasizes its notable frothiness when combined with Coke in its marketing.

Peggy Black 2.8

Sweet hints of raisin, brown sugar, dark chocolate, and vanilla are on the nose. The mouthfeel is rich and oily. The palate offers more raisin and vanilla, alongside nutmeg, toffee, and a subtle smoke on the finish – which is brief, but extremely smooth. 2.75/5.00 – Acceptable (neat)

Bradley Decker 3.0

Affordable, and quite good. A pleasant surprise. It possesses all the classic DDL characteristics, with considerably less sugar than other Demerara products. A great value for those who appreciate this vintage style of rum. 3.5 Stars.

Peyton Mojica 3.5

This cost $22 where I live, which makes me wonder why the hell it's this good lol. It mixes wonderfully! Sips smoothly, though perhaps a bit one-dimensional. But considering its price, my goodness, this is a fantastic value!
