Dead Man's Drop Black Spiced Rum

This is quite enjoyable. I sampled it during a rum tasting at a Sydney liquor store, where it was presented as the final surprise expression. An official note from a distiller is very accurate, so I'll keep my comments brief. This is a tasty spiced rum, almost a liqueur, with an incredible aroma and flavor. While people often say a spirit tastes like 'Christmas cake in a bottle,' the reality is usually not that intense. This, however, genuinely tastes like Christmas cake. It's packed with rum, brandy, cherries, nuts, raisins, plums, and a lot of sweet orange juice. It's hard to dislike this; I was apprehensive about trying it, but one whiff had me hooked, and it brought smiles to everyone at the tasting. The distiller's score of 83 seems appropriate. If you enjoy rich, sweet, spiced liqueur rums, you should try this at some point. 'Good' at 83/100 (3.5 stars).

Orange and tobacco. Initially tasted NEAT, it was quite rich and syrupy. It would become cloying after a while. An ice block mellowed it. I imagine it would be pleasant with dry and fresh lime.
