NOSE Earthy, alcoholic and upfront vanilla with some peat, graham cracker, and banana in the background, plus a hint of vomit. The alcohol is prominent and not particularly pleasant, yet it's weirdly intriguing, which can be enjoyable... but not this time. PALATE Earthy, alcoholic and upfront vanilla with some peat, graham cracker, and banana in the background, along with vanilla, honey, and white pepper. Wow, this 2010 Old Particular Caol Ila 8 Years distinctly presents as minerally clay new make, with a faint trail of herbal spice, smoke, and sweetness. FINISH Extended -> Smoke, mineral, and dried fruit (banana chips). This is the most appealing aspect of the whisky, though that isn't high praise.
