Old Overholt 12 Year Cask Strength Rye (2025 Release)

NEAT NOSE - Caramel and Oak with a hint of orange zest. PALATE - Feels thin. Rich Caramel and Oak with some candied oranges. FINISH - Medium-length with a lingering rye spice. Even with that lingering spice, I wouldn't guess it was rye blind. BUY? - Definitely. I prefer this slightly over the 10 year and significantly over the 11. All three are good, but if you see all of them and can only pick one, this is the one. BUY AGAIN? - Yes. I'm actually considering getting another bottle of all three while they're still available. I wouldn't be shocked if this ends up on someone's Top Rye list for 2025.

Nose: Reserved, but becomes clearer after sipping. Sweet oak on the nose. Some fruit. Palate: Raspberry, cherry, sweet oak, perhaps some cooked apple. This is an explosion of fruit. Numbing on the tongue but not out of balance. Medium viscosity. Coats well. Finish: Medium. Baked apple, rye grains, and some mint as it fades. This is a delight to drink. Highly recommended. I'm returning to rye this winter with Sagamore 10 and some excellent low-proof Jack Daniel's picks. This must be one of the top ryes this year. 89.99 from Remedy Liquor

58.5% ABV. Sharp rye essence with cinnamon on the nose. Viscous texture. Offers semi-sweet peanuts, cinnamon, tea leaves, star anise, and buttered rye toast. A flash of vanilla oak concludes the medium finish. It drinks more like a high-rye bourbon than a straight rye. Recommended for Beam enthusiasts.

Prominent oak, caramel, and anise on the nose. It has a medium body, a creamy texture, with more anise, vanilla, and rye spice on the finish. There's also a subtle funkiness at the end, similar to what you might find in fine cheese. I bought this without prior knowledge and will be purchasing more.
