Nose - the standard Old Forester banana bread scent with a bit of musky wood and cherry liquid is fantastic. As it airs out, the wood is huge and sweet caramel emerges. The aroma here is incredible. Palate - Black fruits, banana bread, a little gritty and smoky/charred on the finish. A hint of spice with that Old Forester character found in the 1920. Now and then, detect a whisper of bubblegum, which is pleasant. Conclusion - Following the decadent nose, I anticipated more from the taste. Somewhat astringent finish.

About this bottle
Old Forester's The 117 Series presents Warehouse H, a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. This limited edition series, launched in spring 2021, focuses on exploration and innovation. This particular bottling highlights Warehouse H, constructed in 1946 shortly after World War II. Its design featured four stories and eight chambers, intended for heat cycling during winter. Notably, the first floor often experienced the highest temperatures. The barrels for this release were sourced from that historic warehouse. It became available in February 2023 at the distillery and for guests of "The Sleepeasy," Old Forester's Prohibition-themed apartment on Whiskey Row in downtown Louisville, priced at $59.99 for a 375ml bottle.

The extra extra old 117 is slightly better; this one still has smooth oak, leather, a little baking spice, caramel, and bread glaze. It needs a bit more on the finish. Overall, I would purchase it again.
