Expect the classic Old Forester caramel and oak notes, which are characteristic of its mash bill. An incredibly smooth sipper and not overly complex. It lacks the robust richness, oak, or spice found in other birthday bourbons. However, given this year's use of a sweeter mash bill, that's understandable. Still a fantastic pour, and while I'd love to own a bottle, a complimentary serving is hard to refuse!

About this bottle
Birthday Bourbon, an annual release commemorating Old Forester founder George Garvin Brown's September 2 birthday, is a vintage-dated, unique bourbon selected from barrels produced on a single day. The 2025 edition distinguishes itself by using a sweet mash process with freshly propagated yeast instead of the usual "setback" in fermentation. Distilled on April 5, 2013, and aged for 12 years, it is bottled at 92 proof, with 210 barrels chosen for this release. An online lottery for purchase opportunities will be held on OldForester.com from August 18-21, 2025, with winners required to collect their bottles at the Louisville distillery. It will also be available at select retailers nationwide from September 2025, with a suggested price of $199.99.
