Nose: Damp wood smoke, antiseptic, medicinal, chemical, fruit (pear and berries). Pinot Grigio white wine. Palate: Full-bodied, rich and chewy. Toasted wood smoke, barbecue meat, sweet damp peat, plum jam. Hints of Amaretto. Finish: Long finish. Creamy/buttery, wood smoke, vanilla cream, plum, pear. Meat, leather, and cigar smoke in the aftertaste. Sweet and woody rather than peaty, despite the extreme PPM. This tastes of wood-paneled offices, old leather armchairs, fast cars, and ostentatious luxury. It evokes a feeling more than a taste. Wow, just wow! Damn! That's an excellent dram!

About this bottle
Octomore 11.2 is one of four expressions in the 11s series from Bruichaddich's super heavily-peated range. It is made from 100% Scottish-grown Concerto and Propino barley, harvested in 2013 and distilled in winter 2014. The barley was malted to 139.6 ppm, and the spirit was divided into two parts, both aged for 5 years. The first part matured entirely in ex-European oak wine barrels from Pauillac, making up 25% of the final bottling. The second part initially matured in ex-American oak whiskey casks before being transferred to former Saint-Julien wine casks from May 2018 to January 2020. The two parcels were then combined and bottled at 58.6% ABV without added color or chill-filtration. It was available in October 2020.
