This single malt Scotch whisky was aged in refill American oak and was partially finished in new, freshly charred oloroso-seasoned American oak casks. To fully appreciate this malt, add a generous amount of water; it then transforms into a delightful explosion of fresh fruit. Light smoke enhances the fruitiness and adds a pleasant savory dimension. The only drawback is a slight bitterness at the very end of the finish. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.
Oak, wild flowers, pine, and seaweed mingle with a touch of citrus and salt. This special release embodies the signature seaside character Oban is known for. It's a pleasant, unique offering with a smooth yet spicy finish.
I concur with others who suggest adding water. Pleasant coastal notes with light fruits and spice, with smoke present at the end. The value is improving as their pricing becomes more reasonable.
