Opened 3 weeks ago Nose - Honey malt, milk chocolate, faint medicinal cherry, clove, cardamom, mild oak, and moderate ethanol. Palate - Cereal grain, freshly baked rye bread, honey, medicinal cherry, and caramel. The finish is medium-long with distinct honey malt, spicy rye grain, black cherry, and a touch of ethanol. This isn't my preferred New Riff release. The malt is a bit too dominant for my liking, reminiscent of Chattanooga or some Texas whiskeys. It still offers good value for a barrel proof special release. I generally don't feel I've overpaid for New Riff products, regardless of my level of enjoyment.
