Just a brief tasting note here. Had this at a friend's place tonight. Didn't really get a chance to smell this one but the palate was incredibly unique, and not in a pleasant way. Essentially it tasted like menthol cigarettes with some dill. Pine resin and various herbs. Do not purchase this, it's awful.

Now this is a strange rye. It's supposedly aged in previous stout barrels, but the beer flavor that comes out smells more like a pilsner. It takes the bite from the spice. It's just an odd, peculiar rye that's an acquired taste.
Interesting mix of sugar notes alongside the rye spice. Dark cherry, floral notes can also be detected. I might favor the bourbon but time will tell.
Spicy rye notes on the nose, with a sweet caramel flavor. Really good.
I appreciate New Holland's Bourbon, but their Rye is exceptional.
Spicy and sweet layered over a smooth caramel foundation.
