Nevis Dew Blue Label

Nose: Honey, sweet citrus, and vanilla. It presents a mildly sweet aroma that isn't negatively affected by a splash of water. Palate: Smooth entry that is sweet but not excessively so, and certainly not syrupy. Notes of light honey and cereal are present, along with a bit of vanilla and banana. The texture is good, surprisingly oily for a blend, and the grain whisky's presence is noticeable but not unpleasant. Finish: Medium to short. Cereal notes with sweet undertones of vanilla and diluted honey. A completely acceptable blended scotch that has no apparent flaws. The grain whisky component is well-balanced and smooth, and the Ben Nevis malt character is evident. Some time ago, I reviewed the Nevis Dew Red Label 12-year-old blend and rated it 3 stars, which in hindsight was a bit too generous. This Blue Label, despite being cheaper and lacking an age statement, is less complex but more approachable and reasonably priced. I'd suggest a taste for anyone who enjoys mild, unpeated blended scotch, and it's especially good with a single ice cube or a dash of soda water. This would make an ideal session whisky. Sweet, nutty, with moderate intensity. Mid-palate offers creamy vanilla sweetness, a hint of dryness, and a light feel, with moderate intensity. Lightly oaked. Moderate intensity.
