Original price $99.99; Sale price $56.99 Opened for 1 month Nose - Bright, green apple, fresh-cut grain, sharp butterscotch, cinnamon powder, light oak, and strong ethanol. Palate - Hot, bright, and bitter, tart green apple, vanilla extract, Red Hots, and harsh ethanol. The finish is medium-long with young grain, apple skin, and strong ethanol. I would never have purchased this at $100. I typically avoid Irish and Scotch aged solely in ex-bourbon barrels. But with nearly 50% off? And highly acclaimed by some well-known whiskey critics? Why not? Well, this is terrible. Imagine the cheapest Irish whiskey at cask strength with added wood. It's so young and hot, it's unpleasant. I can't believe people gave this positive reviews at the $100 price point.
