Mortlach 21 Year is one of eight single malt Scotch whiskies featured in Diageo's 2020 Special Release Collection, themed "Rare by Nature" by master blender Dr. Craig Wilson. This expression completes its aging process in oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry seasoned casks. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.9% ABV, with a limited release of 7,692 bottles available in the US, Europe, Canada, Australia, South Africa, select Asian markets, and airport duty-free in late fall 2020.

A standard sherry cask whisky, yet satisfying nonetheless. The zesty, blood orange notes are robust and easy to drink at the given strength, with a subtle hint of Mortlach's meaty character on the nose. However, it would be foolish to purchase this when the superior Mortlach 25 from G&M is available for half the cost or less.
Nose: 4/5 rubber, lemon orange, dirt Palate: 4.25/5 sweet, coca, chocolate but not bitter, oak, malty Finish: 4/5 was quite full Adding water enhances the earthiness and coca notes.
