Montezuma Aztec Gold

A friend had some of this for making margaritas. I figured I'd give it a try. Nose: I'm not kidding, it smells like vomit and cheap beer. I swear, I'm not joking. Palate: This doesn't taste like tequila. It has no tequila flavor. I don't know what it tastes like; it's unlike anything I've experienced, and unfortunately, it's not good. It's drinkable in a mixed drink, but straight, forget it. I genuinely can't find anything positive to say. Finish: Yep, I'm done. Never again. An oily aftertaste with notes of fermented wheat. (Unsure where that originates). This is a dreadful selection for tequila. I had never heard of it before tonight, and if I never have another drop, I'll be content.

Montezuma Aztec Gold presents a very pale gold or tan appearance, with visible swirling alcohol trails. The alcohol legs are consistent and uniform. The scent is of light oak and a type of sweetener. The taste includes red apple skins and oak. Montezuma Aztec Gold has a light body and a finish that fades relatively quickly. RJT

A rich aroma of charred agave with undertones of burnt oak and vinegar. Flavors include sweet burnt agave, banana, cinnamon, and oak, with unpleasant hints of bile. It has a medium, silky, viscous texture, finishing with gentle agave, banana, cinnamon, and bile. Best used as a mixer or with generous amounts of lime and salt.

$18.19 for 1.75 liters. Caramel, agave, sugar, cinnamon, and vomit. Tastes watery. Not very good.
