I've developed a real liking for the Mi Familia Flores tequila range. Some hardcore tequila aficionados scoff when I admit this, but I enjoy the sweet profiles of their Anejo and Extra Anejo, even if they lean a bit excessively sweet. These Cristalino tequilas are quite fascinating to me, especially as I'm just beginning my journey into tequila. So, I acquired a Reposado Cristalino and an Anejo Cristalino to sample. The transparent appearance tricks my mind into thinking I'm drinking a Blanco, which brings back memories of my early twenties and Hornitos (ugh). Let's just move past that, shall we? The agave scent on the nose is far more noticeable than in their Anejo and Extra Anejo expressions but isn't as sharp as a Blanco. Beyond the agave, there's a hint of butterscotch and sweeter baking spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. A tiny bit of bright, zesty orange candy is also present. I believe the flavor of this Reposado Cristalino achieves a wonderful equilibrium between sweet, clean, and lively. While the Extra Anejo was excessively sweet and the Anejo was just slightly too sweet, this Reposado Cristalino is, in contrast, bright and vibrant. Delightfully sweet caramel, vanilla, and butterscotch initiate the taste, as is typical for Familia Flores selections. Some intense black pepper introduces a spicy kick right down the center of your palate as the flavor reaches its midpoint. Notes of honey, cloves, and cinnamon join in while your tongue still tingles from the pepper spice, leading towards the finish. The finish of this is sweet, perhaps still a touch too sweet. Sugary bubblegum and agave syrup combine with a subtle tart citrus note. The underlying sweetness and citrus characteristics remind me of orange soda, without the carbonation. Unlike many Reposados I've encountered previously, this one distinctly lacks the flavors typically imparted by wood cask aging. I suspect this is partly due to the filtration process used to create this Cristalino. However, this is undeniably a wonderfully sweet and spicy Tequila that I would wholeheartedly endorse for anyone looking to explore tequila.

This Agave Spirit from Mi Familia Flores, made at Tequila Selecto de Amatitan [NOM1459] in Jalisco, Mexico, presents complexity. It's produced in brick ovens, rested in old bourbon casks for a minimum of two months, then filtered. The aroma begins with hints of raw agave, timber, fruit, and seasoning. Its full and intricate body introduces flavors of citrus, toffee, and vanilla, concluding in a moderately long, somewhat smooth finish with a whisper of honey. July 2023 A spiced cookie finish, different from what I recall previously! July 2025

Received this bottle as a gift from our neighbors for our 8-year wedding anniversary. Tried neat initially. The nose smells strong but sweet. On the palate, it's very sweet and smooth. An easy sipper neat. Adding a large ice cube really enhanced it, making it even smoother and more delicious. Flavors of vanilla, strawberries & cream, orange creamsicle, and sugar. Such a great sipper, though it might be too sweet for some.

Interesting taste, very smooth, perhaps a peppery flavor I can't identify, the bottle is cool and the cap doubles as a shot glass.

Advent calendar tasting day 2. Very sweet, tastes like cupcakes. Good and smooth, but not desirable as a tequila.
