About this bottle
Mekhong, the Spirit of Thailand, derives its name from the Mekong River bordering Laos. Introduced in 1941, it was Thailand's inaugural domestically produced spirit, remaining the sole option until the early 1980s. While referred to as a whiskey in Thailand, it is best characterized as a flavored rum, composed of 95% sugar cane/molasses and 5% rice. Labeled a neutral spirit (though not technically a rum) from a cane and rice base with added herbs, spices, and caramel, it is unaged, with its gold hue solely from caramel coloring. Its alcohol content is 35% ABV.
