I enjoy this neat and perceive it as sweet and smoky; the smoky, fiery taste adds a welcome and wonderful layer of complexity to this whiskey. I truly appreciate it and it's one of my favorites to savor any time, but especially in the autumn.
Complex and engaging - sweet and smoky, with an almost roasted corn dust characteristic. Oily and long-lasting. Maturing in used bourbon barrels, bottled at full strength without dilution or filtration - it hits all the right notes. I want more!
Described by my wife as 'Like drinking a campfire... but in a good way!' Subtle sweetness, moderate smokiness, hints of aged wood, and corn-forward deliciousness. A welcome departure from the usual.
During this second tasting, it's a bit fiery and harsh straight, but a tiny bit of water reduces the heat and brings out some sweetness along with smoke.
More character than just smoke and corn! Each taste revealed something new, with an impressive, lengthy, and complex finish. This will become an affordable go-to on my shelf!
