Masahiro Okinawa Gin

The aroma is very distinct. Not dominated by juniper. It has a citrus, hibiscus, and earthy fragrance. There's also a slight ketone (sweet alcohol) smell. The taste is incredibly complex. Each sip revealed a different flavor note. It finishes bitter, dry, and astringent. Not in a negative way, just unique. I enjoyed sipping it, but I suspect it would be enjoyable mixed with sweet vermouth. I'm uncertain how it would perform in a dry martini. It might be too dry for that.

I'm still unsure how to best use this gin. The herbal qualities are quite pronounced and, in my view, it's just overly complex with one sharp note (I'm not certain which herb) standing out above the others. In other words, it's not well-balanced, at least to my palate. Adding lemon does help to mellow it out, but something still feels off to me.

Clear appearance with light legs. Smells of juniper, earth, and alcohol. Tastes earthy, juniper-forward, alcoholic, and rubbery. Medium-light body with a moderately strong alcohol heat. Scored 6/3/6/3/13, totaling 3.1.

Strange aroma, quite earthy and citrusy. The flavor is complex, juniper is not prominent. Citrus, licorice, and earthy notes are present.

Citrusy with a hint of guava. Best with Indian tonic water.
