About this bottle

Introduced in late 2016 with a broader international release in 2017, this dry gin is the product of The Kyoto Distillery, Japan's first dedicated gin facility. Master Distiller Alex Davies uses a rice-based spirit and incorporates botanicals such as yellow yuzu, hinoki wood chips, bamboo, gyokuro tea, and green sanshō peppercorns. These components are categorized into six groups—base, citrus, tea, herbal, spice, and floral—then steeped and distilled individually before blending. The final spirit is diluted with water from the pure Fushimi region. Bottled at 45.7% ABV, KI NO BI translates to 'the beauty of the seasons'.

Back to the Ki No for a post-match drink... this is nice, but I definitely favored the Ki No Tea expression. It completely disappears in any mixer I use, and while pleasant, it's not as bold as Monkey47 or Roots. The 200ml bottle was more than enough.

Superb Japanese gin, very delicate and elegant! Features 12 distilled botanicals, with notes of orange and lemon zest, as well as tea. It's quite floral with a mild alcohol reminiscent of sake. Delicious!

Kyla Drew 5.0

Wow! This is outstanding! A distinctive combination of botanicals, yet it still maintains a traditional dry gin profile. Incredible. Slightly different and a bit smoother than Roku, which is reflected in its price.

Leigh Lamar 3.0

Good, clean gin. A hint of juniper. Not ideal for a G&T, as it gets lost. It would work well in other cocktails needing a more neutral gin, like a Bee's Knees.

Heath Hamby 4.0

Clear body with thin legs. Floral herbal aroma. Floral herbal flavor. Medium body, moderate alcohol, warming. 8/4/8/4/16 4.0

Suzanne Tafoya 4.3

In the classic "London Dry" style, this is very hard to beat! Delicate, clean, sharp, and precise!
