Kohiganzakura is the second release in the "Nature of Shinshu" series, which highlights various aspects of the Japanese landscape surrounding the Shinshu Mars distillery. This whisky, named "Kohiganzakura," pays tribute to the cherry blossoms found in the Nagano region and near the distillery. The Kohiganzakura has a light peat character, and some of the vintages were matured in Japanese wine casks.

The Komagatake line from Mars is exceptional. While each expression shows distinct qualities, they possess a unifying thread that lets them be recognized as a collection. This is precisely crafted whisky, a joy to sample and contrast.
A lovely floral and earthy dram, with hints of berries, smoke, caramel, chocolate, and floral notes.
A pleasant, smoky, fruit-forward spirit. Not a bottle purchase for me, but an enjoyable experience.
Nose: No alcoholic burn, smooth. Taste: Bright, slight peat. Finish: Bright, cherry blossom. American white oak + bourbon. Around 300,000 KRW.
