Is this whisky a 'massive letdown'? The biggest letdown possible? I consider the Blue Label the pinnacle, and the Blue Label Ghost & Rare Port Ellen is just slightly below but always great. This, however, is on a completely different level. And it's bad. Nose: The aroma is inconsistent. It smells like fresh air, with no distinct character. Even the Black Label or Green Label, which cost about a tenth of this, are better here. Palate: Another disappointment. It tastes like spoiled wine, with a bitter finish and no smokiness, which is an exceptional quality in the classic Blue Label. The finish is medium-long, spicy, and warm, not memorable. This whisky absolutely lacks character and has a very cheap flavor. I'm a huge fan of JW Blue Label, but the score is very poor, especially considering the outrageous price.

Tropical fruit, ripe banana, caramel, and smoke on the nose. Sweet on the palate with prominent sherry notes, finishing with peppery and vanilla flavors. It's a lovely drink, though it could be a bit more intricate.
