About this bottle

Mammoth Woolly Rye is produced using a mash bill composed of 88% Wheeler rye, 10% malted Conlin barley, and 2% caramel malt, all cultivated by farms in Northern Michigan. The spirit utilizes glacial water from the Torch Lake aquifer and is distilled in a custom 650-liter pot still. It undergoes maturation in new, charred American oak barrels stored on the shores of Torch Lake and is bottled at 92 proof.

I like having this straight. Quite distinct... notes of anise, sweetness, and herbs. It truly lives up to those flavors... making it unsuitable for mixed drinks. For cocktails, I prefer a potent, full-bodied rye. However, this is an intriguing artisanal rye!

Elvin Wooten 3.5

Nose: Rich caramel, surprisingly sweet aroma, light eucalyptus hints. Taste: Light notes of tree sap, forward rye spice, and some pepper. Finish: Dry and somewhat herbal, with a light burn.

Lucas Calloway 3.5

This is a noteworthy rye. An initial wave of sweetness transitions into a more conventional rye spiciness. Overall, a pleasant drink, though not quite on par with the industry's finest.

Gary Alvarado 3.3

Excessively sweet, too much for a rye in my view. Hardly any spice, which is precisely what I seek in a rye. Tastes of caramel, malt, and vanilla

A truly distinctive rye. I appreciate Mammoth's approach to their spirits. I'm very eager to discover their future releases.
