About this bottle

This whiskey from Mammoth Distilling in Torch Lake, Michigan, is produced entirely from corn sourced from Kentucky, where it aged for 5 years. It was then transported to Michigan for additional aging in Grand Cru Merlot barrels from Bonobo Winery in Traverse City. This corn whiskey, which has undergone a wine finish, is bottled at 40% ABV.

Miracle Barton 3.5

0-1.5: Awful. Only suitable for mixing or disposal. 2: Poor. Drinkable, but significantly flawed. 2.5: Below average. Acceptable, but bland or somewhat flawed. 3: Decent. Good quality, but I won't be eager to purchase it. 3.5: Very good. I'd be pleased to have a bottle on hand. 4: Excellent. I'd want to own a case. A preferred choice that's suitable for celebrations. 4.5: Incredible. Truly high quality, top tier, very remarkable. 5: Sublime. Almost perfect and a lifelong favorite.

Preston Neville 2.5

Young. Alcohol-forward. Lacks complexity: tastes of burnt corn and leather. I had hoped for a "unique" bourbon variation but it was rather disappointing. The wine barrel aging is not detectable at all.

Noreen Salisbury 3.0

Woolly Bourbon, 92 proof. A bit young. The wine barrel finish imparts a fruity character. The corn is noticeable. The youthfulness is detectable on the nose. 7/26/18 On a friend's deck.

Evelyn Noble 4.0

Sweet and smooth. It's not excessively sweet and has good flavor alongside the sweetness. There's very little initial burn, and none towards the end.

Sheryl Hartley 2.0

Almonds and vanilla are standard on the nose. The palate has a harsh alcohol taste that dominates, with sweet honey and brown sugar beneath it.

Brianna Long 2.8

Aged in used wine barrels. This results in an interesting flavor profile that differs from most whiskeys.
