Malfy Gin Rosa

Nose: A jolt of alcohol precedes an intriguing mix of tart flavors, primarily grapefruit. Despite its name suggesting color, not character, a hint of rose water is present, though it might be imagined. Palate: Again, intensely strong and biting upon entry with dominant, vibrant grapefruit. Juniper, cilantro, and an odd element afterward (likely the rhubarb) are detected. The taste profile possesses a bitter quality, which is uncommon but acceptable. Tasting this without prior knowledge is perplexing, but focusing on "grapefruit" clarifies it. The mouthfeel is decent, though not exceptional. Finish: Moderate. Spicy, grapefruit notes. A captivating spirit, ranking as my second favorite among four recently acquired samples. The original unflavored version from this brand is significantly superior to its other offerings and might be the only one truly worth purchasing. Nevertheless, for those seeking an unconventional option to intrigue a weary gin palate, this is a viable choice. It likely shines best in unique mixed drinks featuring aperitif or fruit liqueur elements, as it's unlikely to serve as the foundation for traditional gin cocktails. In a gin and tonic, it performs adequately, but only just. Sampled from a 50ml portion, part of a four-bottle collection of this brand's gins. “Above Average”: 81/100 (3 stars)

Light pink color. On the nose, grapefruit dominates the juniper, its juicy aspect noticeable alongside the zest, with a hint of orange seemingly slipping in, and a honey blossom sensation in the background. On the palate, a strong grapefruit taste again, like a slice lightly dusted with sugar. The juniper is a bit more present but still an accompaniment. A peppery and very zesty finish, dry yet retaining a juicy quality. An excellent flavored gin suitable for sipping neat or in cocktails. Only drawback: an artificial flavor sensation.

I don't have any experience with this type of beverage, but I can state with no knowledge and no justification for anyone to trust my opinion on this gin brand, or gin in general. It had a taste of fresh grapefruit, was slightly sweet, and makes a fantastic cocktail. The frosted bottle is also neat. So, now that you've gained no information from this, I'm out.

Nose: Beautiful grapefruit peel and essential oils, a tiny bit of alcohol, and very subtle juniper. TASTE: Nice grapefruit, citrus, a delicate floral quality, alcohol is moderately hidden. FINISH: Medium to short, but nicely smooth, with grapefruit and flowers and a light warmth. OVERALL: Beautifully grapefruit from start to finish, subtly juniper, alcohol is decently hidden.

The juniper is very faint, while the pink grapefruit is strong and sweet. Little sourness or bitterness makes the fruit flavor seem slightly artificial. Peculiar rose notes appear on the side; it could have been marketed as a Grapefruit & Rose gin.

It's alright on its own. Noticeable citrus flavors, though slightly bitter. I haven't managed to make this gin work in mixed drinks. Standard Malfy or the blood orange versions are more suitable for that purpose.
