(The Good Spirits Company, Glasgow - Virtual Whisky Tasting, Friday 14th August 2020) Cask No: 800815 1 of 264 bottles Macduff is always an independent bottling; the distillery releases its own expressions under the Deveron brand (named after the river that flows past the distillery). Nose: Fresh oak, spices, and chocolate. Palate: Malty, nutty, and spicy. Tastes of peaches and fudge/toffee sweetness (not overly sugary). Finish: Short finish. More sherry and oak notes. A smooth, potent flavor. Well-balanced. Adding water extends the finish. A bit more citrus on the finish. This was the top choice out of the six whiskies sampled, receiving 50% of the votes for favorite. For me, it was a very close second place.

The bottle I have is also a 2008 Macduff 11, but with the "High Spirits and the Masters of Magic" branding from K&L, 46% ABV. Sweet floral nose, with lemon. Medium body. The finish is carbonated, prickly ash, with a return of extra sweetness followed by an astringent aftertaste.
