Smell: Grain whisky, cereals, a little malt, caramel, vanilla, slightly buttery, faint smokiness (from toasted, re-vulcanized barrel), slight floral notes, faint red apple fruitiness, mild oak from European oak, and a touch of alcohol warmth. Honestly, I expected more alcohol on the nose than I perceived. Taste: Good correspondence with the smell, with a more pronounced alcohol presence. An unexpected bitterness is also noticeable, but not unpleasant. The European oak is also more apparent on the palate than on the nose. Tasty whisky, but with a very pungent alcohol. Finish: Short, sweet, and warmed by the alcohol's heat. Overall Impressions: An entry-level, simple whisky created for sipping. The alcohol is very noticeable, reminiscent of the scent detected when applying alcohol to hands. It has some pleasant notes, but they are overshadowed by the strength of this alcohol. Recommended only for mixed drinks, such as with energy drinks, sodas, or juices. For more complex cocktails, I suggest higher quality blends or bourbons.
