A less impressive version of Vinho Barrique. When compared directly, they are nothing alike. However, based on recollection, it seemed quite similar. The aroma brings to mind a traditional ex-bourbon Scotch with the blackberry notes of a refined merlot. The red wine's fruitiness dominates the flavor. When I first opened this bottle, it tasted very young. But after trying it again a month later, the oxidation resulted in a very well-balanced spirit. An excellent whiskey for its cost. This particular one is from a Binny’s barrel selection.
