Laphroaig 2006 Highgrove Cask 500155

Definitely an old-school Laphroaig. Mature, with rich viscosity and light tropical fruits complementing an earthier peat note. Sampled the 2019 release.

Nose: smoke, faint iodine, citrus, herbal, vanilla. Palate: smoke, brine, citrus, mint, green apple, fresh grass. Finish: medium, warming, sweet/salty vanilla.

This is one of those limited edition spirits where the price is high but it does not truly surpass standard offerings, such as the 10 year old or the Lore.
