Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Rye W-1 F-06 R-09 (Binny's Beverage Depot)

This is a 6-year-old barrel selection from Shores Liquor in Daytona Beach, FL, bottled in 2018 at just over 6 years old and 115 proof. The nose presents vanilla, rye bread, and dried apricot. The palate has a rich, raw texture, and the 115 proof is evident initially. Sweet apricot is quickly dominated by intense rye spice, which then mellows into a long, warm, sweet finish of blueberry/cranberry notes with barrel undertones. Diluting with water transforms it into a delicious, well-balanced, robust rye. I'm very impressed. Shores Liquors did an excellent job. It's an amazing value at $46 for a 6-year-old barrel-proof rye.

A soft caramel aroma with hints of dried orange and mint. It has a luscious, creamy texture with significant oak presence. The finish offers toasted hazelnut and vanilla, complemented by crushed peanuts and clove. The bottle was finished far too quickly.
