Kirkland 24 Year Speyside Sherry Cask Finish

Allow this beverage to rest for at least 20 minutes. It will reveal more to you. Nose: deep brown sugar, rich maltiness, dark ripe fruits, dried fruits, plum, cherry, mixed berries, significant sherry influence, baked oranges, baking spices, dark chocolate, aged woody oak. Taste: quite similar to the nose and very smooth, dark fruits, malty richness, brown sugar, orange, a touch of dark chocolate, a good quality tobacco smoke, old leather, oak, the slightest peppery note on the finish, a gentle and easy going finish. Acquired for approximately $80 in my location. Like the other editions before this one (the 20-23 yr), it provides a great dram for the cost. I will certainly be purchasing the next yearly edition to this collection.

This is one of the darkest scotches I have experienced. The initial aroma was very subtle with just a trace of sherry. After resting for 10 minutes, I detect a pleasant chocolate scent. On the palate, I detect sherry, chocolate, along with malt, a bit of oak, and spice. There's an unexpected sweetness. The finish is medium in length, with chocolate, fruit, and a very faint hint of oak. The mouthfeel is almost creamy, but at least it isn't thin. Overall, it was an excellent purchase. You could spend $100 on it and it would still be a worthwhile purchase. The next time I taste it, I will add a drop of water, which I rarely do. That is a 2oz pour in the glass.

Aroma: Rich, deep notes with a pleasing oakiness. Raisins and malt provide background sweetness. An excellent initial impression. Taste: Immediately, roasted nuts like cashews and some savory elements are detected. Finish: Slightly subdued, but with notes of maraschino cherries and plum present. This is a truly surprising scotch, as I had anticipated strong sherry influences, similar to other Kirkland Speyside scotches I've sampled. However, this whisky leans more towards the savory spectrum for me. The aroma is the most impressive aspect of the experience.

AROMA Sherry, cocoa, dried dark fruit, fruitcake, gourmet licorice, toasted nuts, and some baking spice. Remarkable. This is a dark, robust, warming scent that is impressively complex. TASTE Sherry, chocolate, gourmet licorice, nuts, fruitcake, vanilla frosting, malty sweetness, dried dark fruit, and hints of oak, leather, and baking spice. I am very satisfied with this taste; it is delicious. FINISH Medium to long, with dark fruit, malt, cocoa, spice, and oak gently fading away.

Truly an outstanding spirit for its cost. Only at a particular warehouse store can one acquire a 24-year-old single malt for under $70, and it is absolutely worth it. The aroma offers a subtle scent of oak and berries. The taste is considerably more intricate, with a very smooth mouthfeel and flavors of oak, banana, and overripe dark cherries. The initial taste evolves into sweeter berries, reminiscent of cherry pie, eventually giving way to a lingering oak flavor at the back of the palate.

Aroma: Woody, honey and cooked grapes Taste: the initial pour had no burn at all. Very easy drinking, very fruity (Sherry influence for sure) and a good amount of oak (not overpowering). Overall: It's not very complex but it's bold and very enjoyable. Fantastic value, 92 proof, 24 year for only $67
