Kinsley Butcher 4.5

Nose: coffee, chocolate, molasses, port richness, and sweet tobacco. At first smell, I was reminded of a Navy rum like Pussers. It's that peculiar and funky; the spice notes are present, just not in the way one might anticipate. Palate: Rich allspice is counterbalanced by a concentrated sweetness akin to raisins or port, soft cereal grain and oak, with a warming ethanol presence. The finish evokes the sensation of chewing on a prune. Overall: This drinks like a finished rye. I anticipated a robust rye whiskey given its barrel aging process and received significantly more than I anticipated! Midwinters, Sagamore Sherry finish, and every other High West finished pick should be wary!
