Roland Havens 4.0

This Kilkerran is a 10-year-old, part of the second-to-last pair of releases before the distillery introduced its permanent 12-year bottling. The aroma carries typical sherry scents of raisins, brown sugar, and orange peel. On the palate, it initially presents as somewhat one-dimensionally sherry-flavored but evolves over time, revealing more distinct hints of orange, carrot cake, and sweet tea. The finish is notably long and tangy. It's a very enjoyable whisky once it's had a chance to settle, though it emphasizes the wood more than the spirit and doesn't seem to share obvious traits with the 12-year.

Darrell Harmon 4.5

Excellent spirit. It offers notes of berries, cherries, dark chocolate, citrus, dandelions, mangoes, pineapples, peat, more dandelions, bananas, and peppers. It possesses some of the characteristic funk of Hampden Estate Jamaican rum. The only aspect preventing this dram from perfection is occasional roughness, though it mellows with time.
