Kilchoman Loch Gorm (2020 Edition)

On the nose, leather and light peat; on the palate, it's initially weak, then gains strength with raisins, sherry, saltiness, and always a slight, excellent peaty character. The finish is medium-short, peaty, 'sherry-like,' and with dried fruit, which at a certain point disappears completely without a trace. An easy-drinking whiskey, good, but I wished it had a bit more distinctive character; I preferred, precisely because it was 'different,' the 100% Islay.

(Virtual Whisky Tasting - June 25, 2020) Crafted from 100% Oloroso sherry casks, with spirit distilled in 2007, 2008, and 2011. Initially, a strong wave of peat smoke, medicinal notes, and a salty sea breeze hits you. The palate feels quite astringent at first, yet it's vibrant and youthful, featuring notes of citrus rind and applewood. The conclusion lingers for a moderate duration, bringing additional oak and sweet honey. A pleasant peat and sherry combination. Ranked third among the six spirits, securing 20% of the total votes.

Nose: Light smoke, strawberry jam, honey, and a touch of oak. Palate: Honey, strawberry, and dark fruits at first, blending into campfire ashiness and earthy notes. Finish: Campfire smoke gives way to cacao, tobacco, and maritime flavors. This scotch is worth seeking out! A bit expensive for what it is, but I'm pleased with this purchase.

Nose: heavy peat smoke, with plum, rubbery notes, and raisins underneath. Palate: sweetness, ash, and pungent spices. Finish: smoke, sulfur, and nutty notes. Bitterness. Medium. Very oaky.

Excellent balance between sherry and peat. Potent, with unique character. Pairs well with red meats, smoked dishes, and firm cheeses. Very distinctive.

Peaty, smoky, meaty like a high-quality steak from the barbecue, burnt oak, abundant cinnamon, some fresh citrus notes, very rich. A fantastic dram.
