Erik Franklin 4.0

Nose - Distinctive, oily, medicinal. Greatly improved with 4 drops of water. It's sweet, vanilla-like, still perfumed, with mango. Taste - After 4 drops of water, it truly opened up. It has a Port Charlotte-esque sweetness. Mature for just a 7-year-old whisky. The finish is long. Very oily, with cherry notes. I love it.

A peculiar aroma, drastically different from the palate. Extremely sweet, reminiscent of nail polish. Yet, the palate is fantastic: spicy, lovely, with darker fruit notes and beautiful smoke. Surprisingly smooth for cask strength. Very pleasing.

Marva Strickland 4.5

Substantial and intricate; abundant smoke and peat are present, yet balanced by a sweet caramel character, umami, charred wood, and an intriguing herbal quality.

I prefer the Sanaig. Perhaps this one is more approachable but less engaging.
