Kyoto Distillery produces KI NO TOU, an Old Tom Gin. It starts with the distillery's standard KI NO BI Dry Gin base, which incorporates juniper berry, orris, hinoki (Japanese cypress), yuzu, lemon, gyokuro (green tea), ginger, red shiso leaves, bamboo leaves, sansho pepper, and kinome (Japanese herb). After distillation, kokutou (black sugar) from Yonaguni Island in Okinawa is added for sweetness. This sugar contains a greater mineral content compared to standard sugar.

This is fantastic! It's one of the smoothest gins I've ever had! Although its 47.4% ABV might suggest otherwise, this is a very pleasant sipping gin. The aroma is typical of an Old Tom, but the taste is more like a liqueur. Highly recommended.
This Old Tom gin looks like it's aged in barrels, but it's not. The hue comes from Okinawan "black sugar" added after distillation. It offers pleasant tastes of Yuzu, Ginger, and Sansho pepper.
