Kaniché XO Rum

The nose is full of butterscotch and toffee, with a strong coconut presence. Beneath that, you can find vanilla and simple syrup, with just a whisper of bright fruit. There's a noticeable alcohol presence that fades with time. The palate is thick and heavily features coconut. The astringency returns quickly, and the toffee and butterscotch shift towards very sweet coffee. The entire taste becomes sugary as some barrel notes emerge, bringing a slightly bitter charred oak alongside the sweetness. Coconut reappears and lingers after drinking. Overall, it's too sweet for me after a few sips.

A good rum, though not quite the top tier. It presents a pleasing aroma of tropical fruits like coconut and papaya, layered with caramel, cocoa, and wood. The taste is delightful, albeit somewhat sweet, suggesting added sugar. It has a slight warmth but isn't harsh. The flavors bring to mind bourbon, vanilla, and spice, but with a tropical character. The texture is decent and it handles ice well despite the lower alcohol content. The finish is semi-dry, with hints of wood and sweetness like sugarcane. Best enjoyed neat or over ice. You'll likely be pleased.

An intensely aged and blended rum from Barbados, matured for 18 months in Cognac casks. It begins aromatically with notes of cane sugar, wood, nuts, herbs, and spices; a rich mid-palate introduces butterscotch and coconut flavors, leading to a lengthy and intricate finish.

The cognac is definitely noticeable, with a quick-fading burn. I'm not a big admirer of this one. For those who enjoy cognac and wish to explore rum, this is a good starting point. It's sweet to my palate, though not as much as some suggest.

It's amber colored with a potent scent of vanilla and ripe pineapple. The flavor is rich with toasted marshmallow and oak. It's quite fruity, with pineapple being the most dominant. It has a slight sweetness and a creamy texture.

Rich throughout. The aroma has brown sugar, coconut, fruity popsicles, wood, vanilla, molasses, and cherry. The palate offers coconut, baking spices, pecan pie, cinnamon, and wood fire. The long finish is sweet, rich, and fruity.
