About this bottle

Captain Morgan rum is named in honor of Sir Henry Morgan, a successful privateer (a government-sanctioned pirate who attacked enemy vessels and kept a portion of the spoils). Their white rum is molasses-based, undergoes five distillations, and is combined with tropical spices. It is aged for one year in oak and then filtered for clarity.

Cristopher Nickerson 2.8

Less rich and with less toffee flavor than usual. It has subtle fruity, floral notes that linger in the background, substituting for the smoke and sweet caramel. A bit of alcohol taste is present, but it's overshadowed by a nice fruity characteristic, perhaps blueberry. It remains sweet, but doesn't quite achieve the desired intensity or quality in its presentation. The alcohol is quite noticeable, but fitting for a white rum. There's a slightly off-putting bitter undertone, though it effectively balances the fruit and sweetness. The fruit actually tastes remarkably like apple and pear, with a touch of orange. A hint of nutmeg rounds out the entire experience. Despite the alcohol and bitter elements, the overall balance is quite good. The fruitiness is truly what makes this successful. It's not complex enough to drink straight for extended periods, but it's an excellent mixer. The pear flavor is very appealing. It's fairly smooth with a slight spicy harshness.

Mild, bland, unattractive. Once you're a teenager with taste for better alcohol and no sense of taste in rums, this is nice boozer. Once you get older, you'll change your mind. With few exceptions, Morgan stands three steps below basic Havana (and one below basic Bacardí), but pricing is one step, so I have no reason to go for it. Nice and not expensive for beginners, but if you'll miss the Morgan's basics, you won't regret it.

Alvina Lunsford 4.8

Captain Morgan White Rum has a crystal clear appearance, with standard alcohol legs. The aroma is of pungent, white molasses, with some sweetness. The flavor is similar, with a touch of char and wood, possibly. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Captain Morgan White Rum finishes medium fast.

Annamarie Switzer 3.0

Consumed in various mixed drinks, like Mai Tais and Mango Tangos, replicating beverages enjoyed in Mexico.

Gena Colvin 3.8

A pleasant fruity taste. I'm beginning to prefer this over the 100 proof version.

James Mesa 4.0

Despite what the purists might say, I have no issues with it.
