-= Oregon Oak Rested =- Aroma reminiscent of maple syrup, with hints of light brown sugar and wisps of vanilla. It smells distinctly sweet, like soft, smooth caramel candy. Flavor: My first impression is "spicy caramel." It's definitely on the sweeter end for rums. I detect vanilla-like caramel on the retro-hale. Its proof is a bit too high for me to sip smoothly and enjoyably. It's best used as a mixer, especially when sweetness is desired. The vanilla is more prominent when mixed. This spirit has the characteristics of a younger rum. To me, this is a $35 bottle; that would be a more appropriate price for what it offers. Rating based on drinking it neat.

The aroma offers notes of BBQ smoke, vanilla, and scorched oak. The taste brings caramel, vanilla, and peanut shells. The finish is extended, evoking dry oak and toffee, much like a chardonnay.
