Jura The Road

On the island of Jura, a single road leads to an excellent whisky. This recent bottling was aged for no less than 20 years in a cask that previously held Pedro Ximenez Sherry, imparting a remarkable flavor. It is part of a trio of whiskies, with "The Loch" and "The Sound" being the others. Presented at 43.6% ABV with a pleasing tawny hue. The aroma is flawless. The sherry notes are delightful on the nose, very "purple." Smells of cigarette smoke, tobacco smoke, pepper, marmalade, and mint cigarettes. A citrus note emerges after a few sips. Simply beautiful. On the palate: Rich sherry character. Sweet maraschino cherries. Raisins. It's like raisin juice, if such a thing existed. The finish is also incredible. It begins with the warmth of a burning log, then becomes salty and peppery. Smoky but very mild. Overall, this is a fantastic whisky, narrowly missing a perfect score. A 94 out of 100, highly recommended and reasonably priced.

The taste was provided by a friend. It is a wonderful addition to the exclusive travel lineup from Jura. The color is a medium amber. On the palate, the richness and sweetness, a result of sherry cask aging, are evident, accompanied by a tangy maritime note and wisps of smoke over raisin undertones. The finish offers more sherry sweetness with a backdrop of smoke and tobacco. A delightful drink.

Fruity and spiced, reminiscent of a muffin. The barley and raisin notes complement each other well, delivering a full flavor impact on the palate. The Ximenez must be the secret ingredient that elevates average whisky. I genuinely savored this dram.

The aroma is sweet, with notes of apricot. The palate and finish deliver coffee flavors. It's likely a good whisky, but unfortunately, I dislike coffee.

Pleasantly sweet - likely from the PX influence - with hints of toffee apple and cinnamon spice. Delicious!
