About this bottle

The 2023 Rabble Rouser release is Catoctin Creek's yearly bottled-in-bond 100% rye whiskey. This particular bottling represents the final iteration aged in the distillery's initial 30-gallon barrels. Having matured for 4 years and presented at 100 proof, this rye whiskey will be offered at the distillery and at select retail locations across the brand's distribution network. The official release date is Valentine's Day 2023, which coincides with Catoctin Creek's 14th anniversary, with a suggested retail price of $99.

The nose is nicely heavy with rye and a lot of dark char. As the palate develops after the initial taste, a subtle maple sweetness quickly gives way to rye spice, caramel, oak, nutmeg, green apple, and tobacco leaf. It has a medium body with a lot of depth. The few high notes are on the back of the tongue, leaving a peppery brightness that lingers through a long finish. A very enjoyable sipper that truly celebrates everything about rye.
