Like much of the world, NZ is experiencing a distilling revival. This is from a new boutique distillery, 'Begin Distillery,' located in Taranaki on the North Island of NZ. They offer 200ml bottles, which I appreciate. Their philosophy is to create seasonal variants by infusing their gin with local seasonal ingredients, alongside their core range. For $20 USD, you can sample a great gin without feeling pressured to finish it before a new seasonal or special release appears. I don't typically like gin and therefore don't usually rate it highly, but I will rate this one. It has a beautiful harmony of juniper, citrus, and pepper, just as described – I might be starting to become a gin convert.
