JJ Barrel Strength. Aromas of brown sugars, vanilla (a little vibrant), and intense tart cherry (dark and chocolaty). After 45-60 seconds open, faint notes of buttery toffee and oaky popcorn emerged. It was quite pleasing to experience the evolving bouquet as the glass sat. On the tongue, oak is more prominent upfront than the aroma suggested. Caramel is more noticeable on the palate than in the scent. The intensity of barrel proof is there, but not distractingly so. The conclusion initially seemed shorter than anticipated, but the delayed cherry reveal was fascinating. A clear cherry note appeared a full minute post-swallow, like cherry Kool-Aid with excessive water, lingering in the finish. The faint specters of cherry and vanilla waltzed in a subdued setting, long after the performance concluded.

It has the typical profile of Tennessee Whisky; it's not bad, just not as good as JD Barrel Proof.
A Tennessee-style nip, with a finish that isn't bad.
It has a lot of bite but not much flavor.
Quite enjoyable and flavorful.
